These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the services provided by Focus Japan Tours ("we," "us," or "our"). By booking a tour or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before making a reservation.
1. Services Offered
Focus Japan Tours provides the following services in Kyoto and Osaka:
- Professional Photo Experiences: Guided photography tours with professional photographers
- Authentic Cultural Discovery: Walking tours exploring local culture, history, and hidden gems
- Curated Day Trips: Customizable full-day and half-day tour experiences
- Additional Services: Private tours, group experiences, and customized itineraries

2. Booking System and Reservations
2.1 Booking System
We use the Bókun booking system for all tour reservations. When you make a booking through our website, it is processed through the Bókun system.
2.2 How to Book
Reservations are made through our website's online booking system. For inquiries, please contact us at info@moook.work. Final booking procedures must be completed through our online booking system.
2.3 Booking Confirmation
Your reservation is confirmed instantly and you will receive an automatic confirmation email from the Bókun system. This email will include:
- Tour details (date, time, meeting point)
- Number of participants
- Total price and payment status
- Booking reference number
- Guide contact information
- Cancellation policy
2.4 Booking Requirements
- You must be at least 18 years old to make a booking
- Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
- You must provide accurate and complete information
- You are responsible for arriving on time at the designated meeting point
3. Pricing and Payment
3.1 Pricing
All prices are displayed in Japanese Yen (JPY) or US Dollars (USD) and include consumption tax unless otherwise stated. Prices are subject to change without notice, but confirmed bookings are honored at the price quoted at the time of reservation.
3.2 Payment System
We use the Stripe payment system through the Bókun booking platform. All payments are securely processed by Stripe.
3.3 Payment Methods
The following payment methods are accepted:
- Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB)
- Debit Cards
- Apple Pay / Google Pay (when booking from compatible devices)
3.4 Payment Timing
Full Payment:
Most tours require full payment at the time of booking. Your reservation is confirmed immediately upon successful payment processing through the booking system.
Deposit Payment:
Some high-value or private tours may require a deposit (typically 30-50%) at the time of booking, with the balance automatically charged on a specified date (usually 7 days before the tour). Deposit amount and balance charge date will be clearly stated on each tour page and in your booking confirmation email.
3.5 Late Payment
For deposit bookings, if the automatic balance charge fails, your booking may be automatically cancelled without refund of the deposit.
3.6 Payment Security
We use Stripe (a PCI DSS compliant payment platform) and your credit card information is never stored on our or Bókun's servers. All payment information is securely encrypted and processed by Stripe.
4. Cancellation and Refund Policy
4.1 Cancellation Policy
Each tour has a cancellation policy configured in the Bókun system. Cancellation fees are as follows:
- 14+ days before tour: Full refund (no fee)
- 7-13 days before tour: 30% cancellation fee
- 3-6 days before tour: 50% cancellation fee
- 0-2 days before tour or no-show: 100% cancellation fee (no refund)
※Some tours may have different cancellation policies. Please check the cancellation policy displayed on each tour's detail page and in your booking confirmation email.
4.2 How to Cancel
Cancellations can be made through:
- Online: Use the cancellation link in your booking confirmation email (direct cancellation through the Bókun system)
- Email: Contact us at info@moook.work with your booking reference number
Cancellations are processed through the Bókun system, which automatically calculates applicable cancellation fees.
4.3 Refund Processing
For eligible cancellations, refunds are automatically processed through Stripe:
- Refunds are issued within 5-10 business days after cancellation confirmation, to the same credit card used for payment
- Refund amount will be the total paid minus applicable cancellation fees
- Refund processing is automatic through the Bókun and Stripe systems
4.4 Cancellation by Focus Japan Tours
We reserve the right to cancel tours due to:
- Severe weather conditions or natural disasters
- Insufficient number of participants (minimum group size not met)
- Guide illness or emergency
- Force majeure events beyond our control
In such cases, we will offer you:
- A full refund: Complete return of your payment (automatically processed through Bókun system), or
- Rescheduling: Alternative date at no extra charge (rebook through Bókun system)
We are not responsible for any additional costs you may incur (flights, accommodation, etc.) if we cancel the tour.
4.5 Changes to Your Booking
Changes to tour dates, times, or participant numbers can be made up to 7 days before the tour. Change requests can be submitted via:
- Management link in your booking confirmation email (direct modification through Bókun system when available)

Changes requested within 7 days may be subject to availability and cancellation fees may apply.
4.6 Weather-Related Cancellations
Tours operate in light rain. In case of heavy rain, typhoon, or dangerous weather conditions, we may cancel the tour at our discretion. In such cases, we will offer a full refund or rescheduling.
5. Tour Participation and Conduct
5.1 Participant Responsibilities
- Arrive on time at the designated meeting point
- Follow the guide's instructions and safety guidelines
- Respect other participants, guides, and local communities
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the tour (comfortable walking shoes recommended)
- Inform us in advance of any medical conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions
5.2 Late Arrival and No-Show
- If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, the tour will depart without you and no refund will be provided
- No-show (failure to attend without prior notice) results in no refund
- If you may be late, contact the number provided in your booking confirmation email immediately
5.3 Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
- Harassment, violence, or threatening behavior toward guides or other participants
- Damaging cultural sites, monuments, or property
- Excessive alcohol consumption or drug use
- Commercial photography or filming without prior written consent
- Any activity that violates Japanese law or local regulations
We reserve the right to remove any participant engaging in prohibited conduct without refund.
6. Health and Safety
6.1 Physical Requirements
Some tours involve moderate physical activity (walking, climbing stairs). Please review tour descriptions carefully and contact us if you have concerns about physical requirements.
6.2 Medical Conditions
You must inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, or disabilities that may affect your participation. We will make reasonable accommodations where possible. Please note this in the special requirements field of the Bókun booking system or email us.
6.3 Insurance
We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance covering medical expenses, trip cancellation, and personal liability. We are not responsible for illness or injury during the tour.
6.4 COVID-19 and Illness Policy
If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend the tour. If you have a fever, cough, or other symptoms, contact us immediately to discuss cancellation or rescheduling.
7. Liability and Disclaimers
7.1 Limitation of Liability
Focus Japan Tours shall not be liable for:
- Delays, cancellations, or disruptions caused by weather, transportation strikes, or other events beyond our control
- Loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings
- Injury or illness resulting from your own actions or pre-existing conditions
- Third-party services (restaurants, transportation, attractions) not directly operated by us
- Accidents or injuries during the tour (except in cases of our gross negligence)
- Technical issues with the Bókun booking system or Stripe payment system
7.2 Maximum Liability
Our total liability for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the total amount you paid for the tour in question.
8. Photography and Image Rights
8.1 Promotional Use
During tours, our guides or photographers may take photos or videos for promotional purposes. By participating, you consent to the use of your image in our marketing materials, website, and social media.
8.2 Opting Out
If you prefer not to be photographed, please inform your guide at the start of the tour. However, it may be difficult to completely exclude you from group photos.
8.3 Photo Tour Deliverables
Photos taken during photography tours are licensed for your personal use. Commercial use requires our prior written permission.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on our website, including text, images, logos, and designs, is the property of Focus Japan Tours or its licensors and protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our prior written permission.
10. Privacy and Data Protection
Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using our services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described.
Our booking system (Bókun) and payment processor (Stripe) also process your information in accordance with their respective privacy policies:
- Bókun: Processes booking information, contact details, and special requirements
- Stripe: Securely processes payment information (card details are encrypted and not disclosed to us)
11. Disputes and Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Kyoto, Japan.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted on our website and will not affect existing bookings. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
